I don’t think I know anybody who actually enjoys having to clean their firearms after a day of shooting!. The chemicals, the countless dirty patches, having to find the right size brushes and jags–it’s nothing but a hassle.
That’s why I have been using the products from Swab-Its for the last few years. You still need the solvents and oils, but their variety of special foam cleaning tips means no more searching for all the “stuff” you need, including trying to figure out and then cut the right size from a bag of bulk patch material.
I have used their Bore-Tips® for cleaning my shotguns, rifles and handguns for a long time, and recently received some of their .50 caliber tips that are perfect from reaching all the way down to the breech plug on my muzzleloaders. I love them!
And now, they have released a new product just for easy cleaning of pistols and revolvers—-Bore-Sticks. This is an all-in-one replacement for your cleaning rod, jag and patch that makes cleaning these guns so easy, now I look forward to getting them squeaky clean at the end of the day without any of the hassle. I don’t have to spend time finding the right rod, jag, or patch–just take these out of the packet and get right to cleaning!
Made from a special foam material over an internal “brush” shape and with the flexible rod integrated into the whole thing, they fit perfectly and with just the right tension to get deep into the lands and grooves of your barrel. At this time they are only available in one size, for .357, .38 and 9mm calibers. But they tell me they are testing a .45 cal version and will release that in 2017. They may also look at other calibers such as .22, but time will tell.
Each pack contains four Bore-Sticks. That way you can use one for running a solvent through the barrel, one or two for removing the debris, and one more to apply a light coat of oil, without having to stop and clean them between applications. (If your barrel is particularly fouled, you might want to run a brass or nylon brush through first to get rid of the rough stuff so the Bore-Stick doesn’t get damaged.) Cleaning the Bore-Sticks when you are done is a snap. Just give them a “swish” in a little mineral spirits as I prefer, or clean them in soap and water, let them dry and they are ready for many uses.
A pack of four Bore-Sticks normally sells for $13, and they are good for many uses, so they are very affordable. However, read on because Swab-Its are giving you a great chance to try all their products with an exclusive discount just for Guns and Gunsmiths readers.
They are offering a special 10% discount on THEIR ENTIRE LINE of products at www.bore-tips.com. All you have to do is enter the discount code gunsandgunsmithscom (all one word with no dot before com!) at the checkout. And even better, there is no expiration date for this discount!
So what are you waiting for! “Patches. We don’t need no stinkin’ patches.” is my new mantra and it can be yours too–with a discount!
