Gunsmithing Project–Recoil Pad Installation Part 1

with Jack Landis
AGI Technical Services Manager

In this full-length workshop demonstration, AGI’s Jack Landis goes though the complete process of replacing and shaping a recoil pad. Doing it wrong can ruin the appearance and value of a rifle, so it is important to understand the correct process as shown here.

Replacing a recoil pad can be an easy money-maker for a gunsmithing shop, or can be a satisfying project for the gun owner.

Because of the length of this video is has been broken into two parts. Part 2 will be here next week.

  1. Thanks Jack for the great presentation. When will part two of your recoil pad installation be available?
    Mike

  2. When I have to mark the stock to drill a new hole to line up with the new recoil pad, I use the appropriate size transfer punch. That way, it is already lined up “north & south”.

    Looking forward for part 2.

  3. I am in the process of building a Browing 1919-A4 Machine Gun Kit. I am installing a Semi-Auyo Side Plate. What is the preferred way, or different ways, To rivet all these Rivets?
